Crisis Plan Developed and Deployed Just As COVID-19 Hit

Company Profile

A bureau of the US government that gathers and collates various demographic and economic data.

Challenges

This government agency lacked an established structure or plan to manage a crisis.

Solutions

Mr. Sean Quigley first conducted a series of interviews to establish a "current state" assessment of the clients’ capabilities. They seemed eager to share during the interviews, and he heard some interesting stories about how they had conducted business and tried to deal with crises in the past. Mr. Quigley realized the clients needed training on how to apply basic risk management concepts, and they responded favorably and enthusiastically as they came together in a forum.

Results

Mr. Quigley conducted three training sessions and a series of tabletop exercises in between, designed to test the clients’ knowledge and comfort with applying risk management principles. The clients’ comments after the final exercise were laudatory and many told us they felt confident and prepared in a way they had not before. Ironically, the capstone exercise was conducted at the end of February 2020. When COVID hit, the clients activated and implemented the risk management plan they had written.
